CCP Charter

Christian Cooperative Preschool began at Old South United Methodist Church in 1968 with a small group of mothers for the purpose of providing play-mates for their children and to share parenting concerns. This group came to be called Mother's Day Out and was an extension of the Old South Sunday School Program. Over the years the nursery program grew, and in 1978 the name was changed to Christian Cooperative Preschool because this seemed to better reflect the goals of the school.

Christian Cooperative Preschool is governed by the Commission on Education of Old SOuth United Methodist Church with the approval of the Church's Administrative Boasrd. The CCP Staff makes program and policy decisions. The Commission on Education is the supportive liason betwen CCP and Old South Church. The Massachusetts Office of Child Care Services licenses CCP.

CCP does not discriminate in providing services to children and their families on the basis of race, sex, religion, cultural heritage, political beliefs, marital status, disability, or national origin or sexual orientation.

Purpose

The primary purpose of Christian Cooperative Preschool is to provide a warm, caring place for children and their families. We provide opportunities for learning in a developmentally appropriate environment. Our goals are to:

  • Provide children with opportunities to interact with other children in a setting conducive to the development of positive social relationships.
  • Provide children with opportunities for meaningful play that is based on individual needs, interests, and abilities that will build a foundation for future academic skills.
  • Provide a stimulating environment that will appeal to children's natural curiosity to learn.
  • Develop in each child a sense of independence, self-worth and respect for others.
  • Provide families with opportunities to meet and work with other families and teachers who share a common concern for the interests and needs of young children.
